The Junior Orange Bowl Committee (JOBC) along with the Miami Toros will host the fifth annual Junior Orange Bowl Ice Hockey Tournament at the Kendall Ice Arena during the Martin Luther King Holiday weekend, January 13-16, 2012. Over the course of the 4-day tournament, 16 teams will participate in four different age divisions: Mites (ages 7-8), Squirts (ages 9-10), Pee-wee A (ages 11-12), and Pee-Wee AA (ages 13-14).

Teams from Space Coast and Tampa, Florida will come down to compete as well as a team from Dallas, Texas. Come support South Florida ice hockey as this competitive tournament celebrates its fifth anniversary.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to increase ice hockey awareness in the Miami-Dade community with the help of the Junior Orange Bowl Committee,” said tournament director Paul Healey. “Teams will see how competitive South Florida hockey is as they play in the name of competition and good sportsmanship in this tournament”.

The Junior Orange Bowl Royal Court will preside over awards ceremonies on the ice on Monday, January 16.

The tournament will also feature an opportunity to see the Florida Panthers practice live at the Kendall Ice Arena. Attendance is free of charge. The Panthers will take the ice on Saturday, January 14 from 12-2pm. Take a break from the exciting junior action to see an NHL team at work!

For more information on the tournament please call the JOBC office at 305-662-1210 or visit www.jrorangebowl.org/icehockey.
